That the Lyttelton Borough Council, the jubilee of which falls at the same time as that of Christchurch, had deemed it advisable not to hold any celebrations at the port, in view of the Christchurch functions, was a statement made by the Town Clerk of Lyttelton (Mr F. Hobbs) at the public meeting in the city last night. After apologising for the unavoidable absence of the Mayor (Mr F. E. Sutton), Mr Hobbs said that Mr Sutton would be pleased to work in with the city programme, and to act on any committee if desired. Mr Sutton was added to the executive.
