EMPLOYERS AND MEN TO DISCUSS PROBLEMS.
(Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, March 6. The first tangible steps toward real co-operation between master and man to be taken in New Zealand will be accomplished to-morrow, when employers and workers in the engineering trades will meet in informal discussion upon questions affecting the common interests of capital and labour. No dispute is involved in the conference, and a genuine desire to assist in the problems facing the industry is manifest on both sides. Three papers have been prepared by the employers and two by the men. and these will be read to the conference. The men will advance papers on “Co-operation in Industry” and “Workshop Psychology,” the employers will read compositions on "Some Suggestions Connected with Industrial Management," “A Retrospect and Some Suggestions" and “Industrial Unity.” * The coincidence of Dominion conferences of both masters and men has facilitated the arrangements for their meeting. On Thursday night the men will entertain the employers at a smoke concert in the Trades Hall.
