Though sadly bent, the iron pipe railing of this floating staging at Kaiapoi, held on Saturday afternoon, and thus prevented about fifty young children from being thrown into twenty feet of water. The pontoon, supported by water-tight barrels, weighed over dangerously, and the children rushed the gangway to get to the bank. Then the floor of the gangway broke.
