SENIOR GAMES.

The eighth series of matches of the Canterbury Cricket Association senior A competition was commenced to-day in fine weather. The wickets were hard and fast. There was a good attendance of spectators at Hagley Park, where three of the matches were played. Linwood and Old Collegians met at Lan caster Park. SYDENHAM V ST ALBANS. St Albans had first strike. The score was only cen when Woods was caught in the slips off Cunningham. Crawford and Falloon carried on, scoring rather slowly. Fifty appeared after 40 minutes' play, but a little later Crawford was clean skittled by Cunningham. 51—2—IS. North was next, but after scoring three he tipped a simple catch up into Ayling’s hands off Cunningham, and without any addition to the score Falloon was caught by Hahn off Simm<»nd«. 56—4—17. Norrie and Doreen then became associated and at 3.25 p.m. they had carried the score to SI.

A useful stand was made by Norrie and Doreen, who saw the century hoisted after ninety minutes’ play. Tt was rather slow cricket. With the total 115 Norrie went lbw to Simmonds. Norrie and Doreen had added 59 for the fifth wicket. After the tea adjournment O'Brien joined Doreen, who livened things up by hitting a couple of sixes and a four off Bellamy in one over. OLD BOYS PLAY EAST CHRISTCHURCH.

Old Boys began a match against East Christchurch at South Hagley No. 3 ground to-day. The wicket and outfield were fast. Old Boys batted first, Oromb and Nixon opening to the attack of Mills and M’Ewin. The pair dug in and 50 appeared on the
