CYCLISTS RIDE FOR N.Z. TITLE.
The Christchurch Cycling and Athletic Club will hold a five-mile New Zealand motor-paced championship at the English Park Stadium on Wc-dne*. dav night. The large number of entries includes Austin. Ritchie. Weir, and Mackie. The latter is making a special trip from the North Island for the event. The race should be an exciting one, as several of the riders are anxious to lower the New Zealand record. Willmott (Timaru) and Weir will meet in a pursuit race over three distances. Weir is a noted unpaced rider, and Willmott holds the Dominion record for one mile unpaced. A onemile tandem paced scratch race should add much interest to the programme, which will be lengthy. However, the officials are confident that with good management tiiev may get the event* off within the usual time for closing. D, M’Lennan will be making another appearance in ihe running events.
