Woodfull was unable to play owing to an injured ' knee. The batting was very slow against good bowling and keen fielding, but as play progressed the batsmen livened. Ryder gave the best exhibition of the day. scoring all round the wicket at a fast rate. A feature of the partnership between Ponsford and Ryder was the running between the wickets, which was the best seen for some time.
