BEST RUNNING FOR SOME TIME SEEN IN CRICKET MATCH.
VICTORIA KNOCKS UP 265 FOR EIGHT WICKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. BRISBANE. February 3. The Sheffield Shield match, Victoria v. Queensland, has commenced. Victoria had lost eight wickets for 265 runs at stumps (Ponsford 63, Hendry 32, Ryder 84, Scaife 30). The weather is fine and the wicket good. Woodfull was unable to play owing to an injured ' knee. The batting was very slow against good bowling and keen fielding, but as play progressed the batsmen livened. Ryder gave the best exhibition of the day. scoring all round the wicket at a fast rate. A feature of the partnership between Ponsford and Ryder was the running between the wickets, which was the best seen for some time.
