GOOD GALLOPS AT WANGANUI. MASK SHOWS FORM IN TRACK EFFORT. (Special to the “ Star. ’’) WANGANUI. December 16 Some remarkably fine gallops were registered yesterday. The*~ tracks were in splendid order after showers over night. Elysianor was sent seven furlongs, Marcia joining over the last five, which took lmin 3 4-osec, Elysianor doing the seven in lmin 31sec. Covent Garden beat Episode by r two lengths in a flutter over half a mile, which he cut out in 48 4-ssec. Covent -Garden starts in the Palmerston North Stakes, and should run a big race, as he is better now than ever. Episode was not driven along, otherwise she would have been closer up at the finish. The Auckland Cup candidate, Mask, put in a splendid gallop over a mile and a quarter, assisted over the last mile by Damaris and Thaw. lie registered 2min 11 3-ssec for the full journeys, after taking 28 3-ssec for the first quarter. Barryanda beat Pink Rose over five furlongs in lmin 5 l-ssec. Orcades and Shisogne went four furlongs in 50 2-ssec. Vivo and Benzora co\'ered five furlongs in lmin 3sec, the former continuing on and running seven furlongs in lmin 30sec. The Lamb went a mile in lmin 45sec. Reremoajia ran half a mile in 50sec. Lady Desmond and Euphonium did seven furlongs together in lmin 31sec. Silvermine has been taken north to fulfil an engagement in the Railway Handicap. Civility is to race at Awapuni instead of at Auckland.
