THEY WORK WELL FOR THE CITIZENS.
TRIBUTE PAID TO SERVICES OF MEN ON PUBLIC BODIES. “ I wish to congratulate Mr E. 11. Andrews on his election to the Tramway Board, and I am .sure all members are with me,” Mr C. S. Thompson, chairman, said at to-day’s meeting of the Education Board. “ People do not realise the measure of work some public men give to the citizens without hope of reward. Their services are not always fully appreciated, but Mr Andrews’s services on this board certainly are appreciated, and I have no doubt that they will be fully'- appreciated on the Tramway Board, which will have the benefit of his experience.” Mr Andrews said that he had enjoyed the work he had been allowed to do on the Education Board for many years. The chairman congratulated Mr W. A. Banks, another member of the Education Board, on his having been appointed representative of Canterbury College on the Board of Governors of the Agricultural College at Lincoln. Mr Thompson said that Mr Banks would be a useful member of the Board of Governors. He added that it was satisfactory to the Education Board to know that its members were being selected for other positions of trust and honour.
