CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender for drunkenness was sned 10s, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. SPEEDING. For riding a motcr-cyclc and sidechair along Bealey Avenue at a dangerous speed, Leonard Whitford was fined £3 and costs. A police constable stated that defendant had been travelling at from :hirty-five to forty miles an hour. When isked “what was his hurry,” defendant said he was anxious to get to do some work. He was delivering bread at the time and said that he was travelling at about thirty miles an hour. For driving a motor-car over the intersection of Durham and St Asaph Streets at a speed greater than twelve miles an hour. James Garrick (Mr Haslam) was fined 20s and costs. It was stated that a minor collision had occurred. NO LICENSES. Herbert Stanley Stevens was ordered to pay costs on charges of having no driver’s license and of having obstructed a footpath by leaving a motor-car Cn it. Cromptons Ltd were ordered to pay costs on a charge of having an unlicensed lorry. LIGIITLESS CYCLES. For riding bicycles at night without lights the following were fined IDs and costs: Nelson Eden, N. Di Somma, Thomas Marks, Henry' Pring, Alfred James Smith and Edward N. Trenberth. Reginald Scott was fined 2s 6d. NO LIGHTS ON CARS. Fines, of 10s and costs were imposed on the following’for having left their cars without lights at night:—Thomas 11. Burgess, Kendall Atkinson. Arthur Johnson, Sidney Power and Eileen Sullivan. On a similar charge Clarence R. Ogier was fined 5s and costs. CYCLING ON FOOTPATH. For cycling on the footpath the following were ordered to pay, with costs George Barton lO.s, Clifford Duder 6s, Leslie Goldsmith os, Francis J. Haughey 10s, William Marlow os, James Seymour 10s. ON WRONG SIDE. For failing to keep to the left when turning a corner, Ronald R. Gallaher, A cyclist, was fined os and costs. TRUANCY CASES. For failing to send children regularly to school the following were fined, with costs, except where otherwise stated: Rupert Cook (two charges) Ss and 8s (one without costs), Adolphus Curline 6s, M. M’Millan 4s, Arthur M’Glinn 4s costs), Arthur M’Leod (three ffkarges), 4s on each, with costs on George Toon (two charges) 8s and DISMISSED. A charge against William Crawford (Mr Malley) of negligent driving was dismissed, the Magistrate stating that there was not sufficient evidence to prove negligence. The charge arose out of a slight collision at the intersection 9i Marshland and Hawkins Roads.
