There are 1500 subscribers to the children's section of the Public Library and new books are urgently required for their use. As a means of raising funds to purchase such books, the Library Sub-committee arranged a series of popular lectures, the first of which took place in the Library last evening. The speaker was Mrs Gore-Newell, and her subject was “An Evening With Modern Dramatists.” Miss E. Chaplin, chairwoman of the Librarv Subcommittee, presided over a fairly large attendance.
