ELECTRIC RAIL CAR BUILDS UP TRAFFIC.
EXTRA BATTERIES TO BE AVAILABLE SHORTLY. Introduced as an experiment, the electric batten” ra* 1 - car which is now tised regularly on the Little River line has proved so popular with railway users that it has resulted in building up the traffic considerably. The people of Akaroa particularly are well pleased w’ith the service they are now getting, and a great many of them prefer to travel by the car from Little River to Christchurch instead of making the through trip b> r motor. Visitors to Akaroa also patronise the car very well. Mr 11. C. Guinness, Chief Traffic Officer for the Christchurch district, said this morning that the extra batteries which had been ordered for the car would be available shortly”, and it would then be able to be used for other trips.
