AUSTRALIAN HEIRESS MARRIES COMEDIAN ON SPUR OF THE MOMENT.
LONDON, June 12. By virtue of a special license, the comedian, Fred Barnes, has been secretly married at his flat at Maida Vale to Miss Rose Tyson, the daughter of the deceased Australian millionaire squatter, James Tyson. The bride’s mother, was not aware of the ceremony until hours later. “ It was all done on the spur of the moment,” said the bride. “ Just like that,” snapping her fingers, “ we were together at. a party last night, and my most remote thought was of marriage. In fact, my trunks were at Victoria station in. readiness for a holiday in Paris.” “Yes,” Barnes interjected, “on the way to the station, Rose said, ‘ I’m not going to Paris; let’s get married.’ We ’phoned to a friend, who consented to perform the ceremony at my flat. The license cost me £25, and sanctions a marriage at any time of the day or night in any unregistered building.”
