RICCARTON BUSH IN GOOD CONDITION, TRUSTEES REPORT.
Riccarton Bush, which was presented to the city by the Deans family, is in good condition, the trustees report. Although a long spell of dry weather in the latter part of the summer was not favourable to rapid growth, the trees and the shrubs have made good progress. In spite of closer settlement near the bush, no damage has been done to it, and no serious breach of the regulations has been reported. A resident in the neighbourhood has offered to plant more native shrubs in a part of the bush where those plants are somewhat scanty. Sufficient donations have been received to wipe off a deficit at the end of the 1920 financial year. The debit on March 31, 1927, was only 14s Bd. . ... . , A . The normal income is still ln&umcient to meet ordinary expenses of upkeep and to provide for repairs and improvements, and the trustees have approved a suggestion that a number of annual contributions should be obtained. The following measurements of six white pine trees in the bush have been supplied by Mr F. E. Hutchinson, of the Canterbury College School of Forestry:—.
