I can’t do it either.” “He does wear nice clothes —you must give him credit for that.” “I won’t. I’m not his tailor.” Teacher: “ What is faith?” Boy. (stolidly) : “Believin’ wot yer know’s impossible.” Milkman (examining a candidate for a job) : “ Well, my lad, how many pints are there in two quarts?” Boy: “Three, sir.” Milkman: “Good. You’re engaged.” “If any member of my audience,” said the man on the stage, “ will call out the name of some female character in Shakespeare, I will portray that character.” “ Florence Nightingale,” came a shout. “ I said Shakespeare, sir, not Dickens.” “What are you doing these days?” “ Making up jokes.” “ Working on ‘ Bv the Way ?” “No. In a beatity oarlour.” « a 22 Sylvia: “All my ancestors were blondes.” Jack: “Then you come from preferred stock.” K « “So this baby is a girl?” beamed the vicar at the baby shew. The proud father assented. “And this one—is it of the contrary sex ? ” His wife’s eye was on him, but with no thought of the wratn to come, he replied, blithely, “ Yes, she’s a girl, too.” He: “How did your dad know we borrowed his car last night?” She: “So unfortunate. lie was the old pot we pushed over in Colombo Street.”
