A conference of contributing bodies will be held in the Heathcote County i Council’s office to-morrow night for the | purpose of considering the question of , forming Page’s Road in tarred mac- * adarri. Councillors G. R. Hunter and I E. IT. Andrews and the City Engineer I will represent the City Council at the * conference. j It is reported that the stripping season at the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society’s hatchery, which be- | gan bn May 20 and ended on June 9, s was one of the most successful for many years. The work was carried through without a hitch. No eggs will be sent away this j-ear to the North Island, as they will be used for stocking the Canterbury rivers. A falling-off in the fish in the upper reaches of the Selwyn has been partly responsible for this decision of the Acclimatisation Society. The rainbow ova, of which there J should be 150,000, will be used for | stocking the inland lakes.
