A letter from Councillor P. R. Cooke, declaring his allegiance to the city of Christchurch and pledging himself to advance the welfare of the city to the best of his ability; also applying for three months’ leave of absence from date of election, ceived at last night’s meeting of the City Council. The Mayor said that he had received a letter from Councillor Cooke, in which he stated that he was having a very good time and hoped to be back again in Christchurch soon. Leave of absence, as requested, was granted.
