MONTHLY MEETING OF TRAMWAY BOARD HELD.

The Tramway Board met yesterday: present—Mr A. S. Taylor (chairman), lion J. Barr, M.L.C., Messrs G. T. Booth, J. A. Fleslier, W. J. Walter, J. Wood, H. Pearce, D. Sykes and L. v\ . White. WORKS COMMITTEE. The Works and Traffic Committee reported that the City Council had _ iequested that the board should continue to run the bus service to the Bromley Cemetery on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, under the existing finaiicial airangement with the council. The committee recommended that that should be done. Messrs Andrews and Arps had applied to the licensing authority Heathcote Valley to the city. The committee appreciated the co-operation evidenced between the two local bodies concerned. Years ago, by arrangement with the City Council, a water-tank and tramway water-siding were put into the council’s property at Office Road, under a scheme by which the Tramway Board was watering the public road as well as Its own tracks. The Fire Board, however, had requested the removal of this in order to improve the exit from the fire station of the Hre-plant. The committee was in communication with the City Council on the matter. jlr Sykes asked if the bus service from the Heatncote Valley would have a double shift. The chairman said that the board liad made no conditions as to work. The report was adopted. MISCELLANEOUS. The Town Clerk wrote forwarding a report by the City Engineer on the condition of the Shirley bus route from Hill’s Road to Edward Avenue. The report stated that it was impossible to do anything except to Warden Street, which would be attended to immediately; there was ample room to avoid a high manhole complained of. The letter was received. A motion was passed that a supplementary loan of £2700 should be raised to complete improvements to the board’s undertakings authorised by the 1927 improvement loan of £27,000.
