“ STICK TO IT, BOYS,” IS ADVICE FROM GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

URGES THEM TO GUARD HONOUR OF INSTITUTE.

(Special to the “ Star.’') WELLINGTON, June 21. “I would like to pay a tribute to those who started this institute. There is not the slightest doubt that the work being done here deserves the gratitude of the whole community,” said the Governor-General at the Boys’ Institute last night. “We have not all got equal chances in life,” he said. “It seems hard, but there it is. It is all the more to the credit of those lads who make good despite their handicap in the race of life I hope everyone will take an interest in the institute. lam looking round to see who the next Prime Minister is going to be, or shall we say the Mayor of Wellington. “I want you to try and believe it is in you to make good, and you can if you only put your mind to it. Some of you may have bad luck, but at least you can try. Stick to it, boys, and you will find that you will get on in life. It is pluck and grit that count. Remember that. You all know Canon Fielden Taylor. The poor fellow is sick and ill. You might have thought that he would take a rest; not a bit of it—pluck and grit, that is that carries him through. Be proud of your institute and try to do something great in the world for the sake of the institute. Make up your mind you will repay those people who are working so excellently for you. “The honour of your school or college is a great thing. Keep up the good name of the institution, that is my advice to you. Good luck to you, boys.”
