RESTRICTIONS REMOVED ON AMERICAN CARS.

When the City Council was discussing recommendations from the Finance Committee that a motor-car to be bought for the use of the Lord Mayor and that his should be of British manufacture, Alderman Shannon', who said he was speaking for the Labour caucus, moved an amendment removing the restriction to British makes. He said that the committee’s recommendation gave undue preference to British manufacturers. He added that there were cheaper cars to be had than British. The amendment was carried.
