SHAREHOLDERS OPPOSE GRANTING DIRECTORS HIGHER SALARIES
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 15. At to-day's meeting of shareholders of the Farmers’ Trading Company a motion that the directors’ salaries be increased by £IOO each aroused opposition. members being of opinion that several successive good years should be experienced before such a course is adopted. An interjector exclaimed: “Suppose they strike?” to which the speaker of the moment replied : “ Let ’em, I d do the job myself for less.” On the chairman making it clear that the directors were not .seeking the increase the motion was defeated.
