J.P.’S PREPARE FOR ANNUAL MEETING.
A meeting of the Council of the Justices of the Peace Association was held in the library of the Chamber of Commerce last night. Present: Mr A. Williams (president) and Messrs 11. Holland, M.P., H. Herbert Smith, W. 11. Seed, F. B. Creswell, H. F. Herbert and J. R. Brunt (registrar). Apologies were received from Messrs C. 11. Gilby, G. E. Franklin, F. 11. Christian, and A. II Hobbs. Mr I. Salek (Dominion Registrar) Wellington, wrote to the effect that the full report of the meeting of the conference held at Dunedin in March would shortly be printed and circulated to all members. .From Mr P. R. Climic, organiser of the Progress League, acknowledged the receipt of the annual donation and thanked the association for the wholehearted and practical expression of godowill and confidence in the league. Mr W. W. Tanner, J.P.. wrote acknowledging the letter of sympathy from the association in his recent bereavement. Mr Peter G. Grant, and Mr 11. Labatt were elected members. The draft report to be presented to the annual general meeting of members to be held on June 28 was read and adopted, also a resume of the early formation of the association in 1918 which was agreed to and ordered to be sent out with the annual report and bal-ance-sheet. The registrar was congratulated upon his success in providing such good results at the various members’ social.
