In the Macartney benefit match, the Rest of Australia, in the second innings, made 344 (Morgan 73, Jackson 32, O’Connor 101, Smith 25). Mailey took six wickets for 99 runs, and Everett two for 76. Australia, in the second innings, was scored 117 for three wickets (Ryder not out 55, Woodfull not out 29). M’Namee took three wickets for 46 runs. w Australia won by seven wickets. To-day’s play was again spoiled by showVry weather, and the Rest of Australia wickets fell quickly till O’Connor and Smith made a stand, and put on 97 for the eighth wicket. O’Connor batted brilliantly for his century. The attendance was three thousand. The receipts in the Macartney Benefit Match totalled £2630. Private subscriptions hitherto amount to £4OO.
