BETTING TAX BROKEN DOWN, SAYS COMMITTEE.

Lawful betting since the tax was introduced has decreased 75 per cent, compared with the previous year, according to the report of the Committee of the Turf Guardian Society, which asserts that their lost business has been driven underground, either to illegal ready-money betting, or enriching shady bookmakers and commission agents, who are betting secretly and not paying. .
