The United Friendly Societies’ Benevolent Association held a meeting on Friday evening; present. Brother E. Thornton, M.U., 1.00. P. (president), Brother V/. D. Comey, U.A.O.D. (vicepresident), Brother H. E. Smith, U.A.O.D. (secretary and treasurer), Brother A. F. Hoddinott, S. and D.T. (minute secretary), and delegates from the lodges affiliated. Correspondence was received from several lodges conveying the season’s greetings and congratulating the association on its good work in the past, and hoping for its continued prosperity. The Loyal Leeston Lodge, 1.0.0. F., wrote thanking the association for its grant of £2O to one of their need ybrothers. An application for assistance from the Loyal Volunteer Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., of £2O to one of their needv brothers! was considered and the sum of £3O granted, making the total grants to date £1504 12s 6d. .
