PICKING THE TEAM.

It was stated by Mr D. Reese, chairman of. the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council, at a meeting of- the committee last night, that the. announcement made that the whole of the New Zealand cricket team for the English tour would be picked after the Auckland-Wellington Plunket Shield game was not correct. The unanimous decision of the committee was that eight “ certainties ” should be selected after the Auckland-Wellington game, and that the other members should, be picked later. This was doubly necessary in view of the visit of the Melbourne Cricket Club's team, as the . form shown by players in matches against that team would be a guide to the selectors. It was decided to communicate with the selectors on the matter.
