The bloodiest battle in the present war occurred at Pearl Lagoon, lasting three days, and ended in a week-end victory for the Liberals (rebels), who overcame the Conservative rearguard. Th ey did not attempt to bury over 300 dead, and many of the ninety wounded crawled into the swamps and died. Thousands of vultures hovered overhead to-day. The Conservatives retired from El Bluff and were disarmed by United States naval forces. General Diaz has issued a statement alleging that a third expedition has been sent by Provident Calles's Government against Nicaragua, consisting of arms, ammunition and aeroplanes. and a Mexican military personnel.
