SPREYDON BOWLING CLUB. The play for the. club champion singles last week-end resulted as follows L. Sandford 24 beat W. Allen 15; fl. Smith. 24 beat .J. Wardell 13; J. Brackenbridge 29 beat C. Broughton 10; T. Hatterthwaite 21 beat W. Warden 20. SPREYDON CRICKET CLUB. Spreydon Juniors, in their match against East Christchurch, compiled 174 for six wickets. East Christchurch made 124. The best scorers for Spreydon were Cross 45 not out. Erickson 36, Pay 28. Petrie, four for 34, Morson, three for 3G. Cox, one for 0. and F. Bowes, two for 10. were the best bowlers. The Spreydon Third Grade team met and defeated Y.M.C.A. by ten wickets. Y.M.CA made 33 and 125. and Spreydon 177 and 55 for no wickets. Kiddey 19, Farrant 28, Freeman 13, Munn 20, in the first innings, and Farrant 28 not out, Johns 18 not out, in the second innings,' were the best scorers for Spreydon. Freeman. Kiddey. Johns and Farrant were most successful with the ball. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs G. Wear and'family, of Lyttelton Street, have gone to Hanincr Springs. Mr and Mrs D. Woods, of Lyttelton Street, left last week for Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Gunns and family, of Neville Street, are spending a month at Sumner. Mr and Mrs Johns, of Lyttelton Street, have gone to New Brighton for three weeks. Mr and Mrs J. Brightirlore, of Tainui Street, left last Saturday .for Auckland. Mr and Mrs A. Wood,and family, of Conway • Street, have gone to New Brighton for two weeks. Mr and Mrs Hooker, of St. . Lenord Street, have gone to Waironga, near Waimate. JOTTINGS. The contract for the reticulating of. the east part of. Spreydon with the sewer has been let to Mr F. Brightiing, who expects to be in Spreydon before the New Year. The contract is now being prepared to take in the block
bounded by Milton Street, South Crescent Road, Jerrold Street, Lipcoin Road, and Barrington Street. This closely-populated area will see the contractor commence work in this district early in -1927. The residences fronting on Milton Street. Barrington Street. Selwyn Street, and part of Somerfield Street, where the sewer has alrcady beeri laid, will be connected up when the machinery at the pumping station located at Opawa .and Linwood has been completed. The specification and plans for the bloqik west of Barrington Street from Lincoln Road to the Ilills. are being prepared',' and the board hope to call tenders for the work before the winter. IMPERIAL BOWLING GREEN. Owing to the bad weather conditions play for the Henry Wood Cup (rinks) and Peter Wood Cup (pairs) has been hindered. Two games for the Fox Cup were concluded this week, when Dudley, after winning seven games, was beaten by Ashbv, who also beat Wornall. Recently a team of players from Aulsebrook’s visited the green for a friendly game.
