WASH YOUR BLANKETS.
—BEFORE TIIE FIXE WEATHER GOES. HERE ARE FIVE HINTS TO HELP YOU. Choose a sunny, breezy day to wash the blankets which have been in use during summer, so that they should be fresh and ready for hard winter use. A long-handled suction washer and dolly tub, or washing-machine is invaluable for blankets; failing these, prepare a bath of kike-warm lather, to which two tablespoonfuls of ammonia or borax'should be added. Shake each blanket well before washing, then knead and squeeze in the lather (two lots of lather may l>e required) and rinse in at least three lots of warm, clear water. To wring, fold blankets in four lengthwise and pass through tl-gi wringer twice. Before putting them on the line, shake well. Shake also several times while they are drying to keep them soft. New blankets #.ould be soaked for an hour in ammonia and water before they are washed loathe first time, as this helps to get rid of the dressing and natural grease.
