RAILWAY HANDLES 3000 TONS OF COAL.
Eastward-bound railway trucks have carried from the West Coast nearly three thousand tons of coal which had been held up through the collapse of the Blackball bridge. This represents a special effort on the part of the Railway Department to clear the bins at Blackball and Paparoa. The Blackball bridge was reopened on Saturday, and the Department supplied waggons sufficient to hold from two to three thousand tons of coal. This was loaded on Saturday, and the coal will be delivered to Christchurch coalyards and other places at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
