Yet though a knowing legal pot our Gordon now is shammin’ as, yet he -was not required to swot, nor did he pass examiners. It’s just as well, it seems to me, he needed no swot for it or our Coates would stiil have no degree despite the Public Orator. The latter made a speech most bright on the event and in it he brought Gordon’s excellence to light, in most profound Latinity. Said he: “As once he drove a cow with stockwhip and with stick, you know, he drives New Zealand people now.” Yet patient cows may kick, you know.
