A GREAT RACEHORSE.
Coronach’s performance in this year’s St Leger had several outstanding features (says an English writer). Lord Woolavington’s colt won the race in record time—3min 1 3-ssec—he was last away at the start, he made his own running after about three furlongs, and he twisted a plate on his off foreleg during the race. Apart from war-time racing, he is the first Derby winner to win also the St Leger for over twenty years, and he has beaten the record, previously held by the Duke of Portland’s Donovan, for the winnings of a three-year-old. Donovan won £38,666, and Coronach this year has won £39.624. Flying Fox’s total was £37,415. Coronach is a great credit to the British turf.
