COBHAM’S ATTEMPT TO FLY FROM LINER HOMERIC FAILS.
CRAFT BUFFETED BY GROUND SWELLS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Aus. and. N.Z. Cable Association. (Received November 26, 10.10 p.m.) NEW YORK. November 23. Sir Alan Cobham arrived by the Homeric to commence a lecture tour on Thursday. His attempt to fly a Moth plane from quarantine to Battery Point to prove the possibility of thus expediting the mails was a failure. The liner was delayed tor three hours. The aeroplane was lowered, but was only buffeted by the ground swells and eventually was towed ashore. The majority of passengers were indignant, for they missed their trains and Thanksgiving dinners.
