HEART FAILURE CAUSES MAN’S SUDDEN DEATH.
An inquest touching the sudden death of John Alexander Ferguson Crothers was held in the Methven Courthouse yesterday, before Mr James Cow, District Coroner. Constable Dreward represented the police. Evidence of identification was given by James Alexander Stephen, manager for Crothers in Methven. Witness also stated that deceased had been in his apparent usual health after motoring from Christchurch at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday. About 5 p.m. he took suddenly ill and later medical attention was sought. Dr M’Kee in evidence stated that on arrival he found deceased had expired, and under instructions had conducted a post mortem examination. No external marks were apparent, the cause of death being syncope following on chronic nephritis. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
