The death is announced from London of M. Krassin, Soviet representative in London. Mr 11. Y. Widdowson and Mrs Widdowson, left this morning for Han* mor, where they will spend a holiday' of two or three weeks. Dr Bass, Lieut-Colonel Gunn, Captain Monro, and Captain R. B. Cooper were passengers to Christchurch by the ferry boat this morning. Mr C. G. Wilkin, secretary of the South Island Freezing Companies’ Association, left for Wellington last evening. Signor Antonio Notariello will leave for the North Island on Saturday evening. lie will tour New Zealand before returning to Italy. Mr Harold Prescott is in Dunedin at present, where he will sing the title role in Elgar’s “ King Olaf ” for the Dunedin Choral Society. The death occurred at Gisborne yesterday of the Rev Sampson Stephens, late vicar of To Puke, and formerly of Clyde, aged sixty years. A message from Calgary', Canada, states that the Grace Presbyterian Church has decided to invite the Rev James M’Neill, of Nelson, New Zealand, to become pastor there.
