AGED COUPLE GET DIVORCE IN AUCKLAND. (Special to the “Star ”) AUCKLAND, November 25. Tl»c most extraordinary petition for divorce that brought with it a reminiscence of early Auckland when divorces were few and far between came before Mr Justice Adams this morning. The petitioner, Whitehead, was 76 years of age, and the respondent, I lead ham Whitehead, a man of 80. The ground for divorce was given as separation that extended over a period of 58 years. The parties were married on July 10, 1867, but the re* lations were not cordial and in June of the following year, they agreed to separate. Petitioner stated that respondent wouid not keep her and he expressed a wish that they live apart. There was one child of the marriage. Counsel said that the reason for divorce was that the parties wished to marry again to legitimatise their other children. A decree nisi was granted.
