SPEEDING UP OF PEDESTRIANS URGED IN LONDON TOWN.
(Special to the “ Star. ”) LONDON, November IS. The pedestrian who dawdles across a roadway, holding: up traffic, will shortly find the law descending upon him. “Pedestrians must move faster,” is a decree of the Westminster City Engineer, who says they are pampered, and must now realise that they are equally responsible,, with, drivers, to keep things moving. It may be necessary, he says, to restrict street crossings to stipulated points. “As soon as traffic is made easier, pedestrians flock on to the roadway. “If roarii? were two hundred feet wide, more than ever would flock there, thus making matters worse.” iiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
