WILDING PARK IN COURSE OF PREPARATION
Wilding Park will be the scene on January 20, 21 and 22 of the Canterbury lawn tennis championships, which for the first time will be played on grass instead of asphalt as has been the usual custom at Easter time. Word has been receivel though unofficially, that the. New South Wales team wi{ lb e competing at the Canterbury championships, and if so very keen interest will be aroused in the matches. There are twelve grass courts at Wildrng Park and they have all been top-dressed. Mr R. Browning, secretary of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, says he will be very much surprised if the courts do not roll out worderfully well for the championship meeting. This morning the committee met the contractors who erected.the fences between the bitumen courts, and arrangements have been completed for the fencing of the grass courts and also for the erection of ample stand accommodation round the two top courts, on which most of the important matches will be played.
