OLD PEOPLE MAY HAVE ANNUAL MEDICAL TEST.
Compulsory annual medical inspection of all persons in the Dominion over the age of forty years is advocated in a remit to be forwarded to the Hospital Boards’ Conference to be held in Christchurch on March 2 and 3, 1927. “Dr P. C. Fenwick is in favour of this, as far as Cancer i£ concerned,’’ said Mr Clyde Carr, in tabling the remit, at to-day's meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board “If we can nip in the bud any disease by this inspection it will be to the good of the country and the people most directly concerned." “Did it include a mOntal examination?” asked Mr W. E. Leadley. “Some may require it,” replied Mr J. IC. Archer. “I don’t think the" remit will get through.” said the chairman (Mr H. J. Otley), “but we will take it.” Mr Carr replied that he believed the board members would recc % ise it was a move in the right direction. The remit reads: That in the interests of preventive medicine and public safety, legislation be sought to provide for compulsory annual medical inspection of all persons in the Dominion over fortv years of age.
