SUMNER-REDCLIFFS ROWING MEN WILL HOLD CLUB RACES.

A committee meeting of the SumnerRedeliils Rowing- Club was held in the ciuo rooms on Monday night. Mr U. Neave presided. quotations .were received from E. D. Rees for plensilre-boats suitable to be rowed on the Estuary. On the motion ot* Mr 51. I-lullett, seconded by Mr G. Gilby, it was decided to buy one pleasure-boat from Mr Keen, for the use of lady members, the price not to exceed £ls. It was agreed that the Lyttelton Rowing Club should be written to inviting them to compete in friendly intcr-eiuu races to be held at a date convenient to themselves. It was resolved that club rates should be held, the crews to consist of one new and orte old member. The trophy will be a Challenge Cup to be held for one year by the crew gaining most points in club races held during the season. Erich memoer of the winning crew will be presented with a medal. AVON" CLUB PICKS CREWS FOR CODUL'UMIS. The following are the pair oar crews for the Carlton Cup, to be rowed on December 6;—E. Barkle and W. Barwick; W. Palmer and 1... Knox; A. Harley and G. Rushworth; G. Ktiles and A. \Voodham; C. Stiles and A. Frame; R. Nightingale and it. Lyons. The lollowing are the crews for the new members double sculls to be rowed on December'B:—Lerange and Wilkinson, Ritchie and Haigh; M’Duff and Roundv; Barber and Bishop. The heats of the new members trial pairs were rowed last. • evening. In the first, heat. Lerange and Bishop defeated Kingsland and Haigh by three lengths. In the second heat Ritchie and Wilkinson defeated Barber and Boundy easily by four lengths. All the crews snowed keeness and they should 'develop into good oarsmen. In the fin a i Lerange defeated Ritchie easily by three lengths. Entries for the club fours close on Monday. November 27: The following crews have been selected for Akaroa Regatta:— Youths’ four—A. Harley, L. Knox, J. Lane and A. Frame. Youths’ double scullp—E. Heatley and J. Brixton; A. Frame and F. Adkins. Youths’ singles—-E. Heatley and L. Knox. Maiden four—A. Harley, G. Crosbie, J. Lane, j. Harley. „ , Maiden double sculls-—W. Palmer, W. Scott (the remainder of the crews will be selected to-morrow). The Avon Club is trying to create a record in winning the youths" fours. Since running third at Akaroa in 1922 the club has won every youths’ fouroared race held in Canterbury since that date. Tills year a crew is one of the best and should keep up the iecord.
