£looo IS CITY’S MAXIMUM SUBSIDY FOR ROYAL VISIT.
The Mayor wrote to the Drainage Board last evening asking it to give a grant towards meeting the expenses in connection with the visit of the Duke and Duchess of York, and stat> ing that the maximum subsidy from the City would be £IOOO. Mr 11. G.« Livingstone said that the Mayor should have called a meeting to discuss the subject before ap» proaching local bodies, in order that there might be some idea of the total cost. The letter was referred to the Fii> ance Committee with power to act.
