THE “STAR’S” £loo COMPETITION FOR BOYS AND GIRLS.

EVANGELINE’S LETTER-BOX. Torea. —You did not have a very comfortable experience at the Show, did you, with the two dripping umbrellas? I hope you got your history right. Many thanks for the fern. What a fine one it is. Nancy Taylor. What coloured dresses did you wear when you acted as flower'girl? No, the badges are not here yet. I really don’t expect them for some time, probably early next year. Valma Richards. —So glad to hear from you again. You and I are both very lucky as far as letter-boxes are concerned for I have one quite near too. Let me know if the coupons arrive safely. • Thank you so much for the contributions. Josephine Cheater.— You are now a Starlet, Josephine, and I am looking forward to meeting you soon. Stella. —I like your pen-name. Do you know what it means? A little mistake in grammar crept into your letter, Stella. Try and remember how adverbs are formed. The weather clerk did not do his best for the Show, did he? Capital letters for the days of the week! The Joke Box is pleased. Alma. Moor. —Next time you must take more care of your ticket Alma. I am looking forward to receiving the jokes. Edwin Spicer. —What, about another letter, Edwin, and a pen name too? Are you going away for the holidays? W. E. Walton. —You are now a Shooting Star! Yes. I think you were right about the number for the fish. It must have belonged to it. I am so glad your brother is joining also. Twinkle Toe*.— Really, I djd think you had danced right out of New Zealand Twinkle Toes! Take care with vour grammar, especially with those two little words that so often get mixed “what” and “which.” When is the recital? Are you very excited about it? Silver Star— Your poem entitled “Evening” got on to the page and I believe you wrote it for the competition—did you? If so, I am so sorry that a mistake occurred .Do you think you could write another one—perhaps a better one? Aotea. —You succeeded in sending me a neat letter, Aotea, and as a reward it is in Starland Column. What a pretty picture your kittens must make!

LETTERS FROM STARLAND.

Dear Evangeline,—l am going to try and write you a nice long letter this time. I have found some riddles for you to put in the paper for other Starlets and Shooting Stars to read. We have had six little kittens, but dad took three away. They are such dear little things and we often go and look at - them, but are not allowed to pick them up. I am looking forward to my Christmas holidaj'S. With love from Aotea.
