HAPPY PARTY LOSES POPULAR MEMBERS

" MISS CANTERBURY ” AND MISS MANN RETURNING. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND. November 24. The. “happy family,” as the eight finalists in the “Miss New Zealand” contest were called, lost two of its most popular members last evening when “Miss Canterbury” and Miss Mann left Auckland for home. They have been two of the most popular girls, and made, a great impression wherever they went. The other girls miss them tremendous- “ Miss New Zealand” and her maid of honour were given a further remarkable ovation when they appeared last everting in state at the Majestic Theatre, where they are under engagement for a week with the other finalists. Both girls continue to attract great attention wherever they go. They are still collecting gifts and enjoying themselves immensely. Shoals of congratulatory messages continue to pour in from" admirers all over the country. The enthusiasm shown over Miss M’Millan and Miss Wilson is shared by “Miss Auckland” and her maid of honour. who arc given great receptions when they appear in the streets and at the theatre. __ « MISS CANTERBURY ” WILL ARRIVE IN MORNING. Miss Mavis Pycroft, who has beer, accompanied on her northern tour by her parents, will arrive in Christchurch tO-tttorvOw morning with Miss Phyllis Mann. A telegram to the “ Star “ announces that the girls are both well. “Mist.' Canterbury” and her Maid of Honour will have a quiet two days, oil Thursday and Friday, but on Saturday they will be the centre of attrac tion at the Domain Fete, wherd Miss Pycroft will judge the “ Little Miss Christchurch ” beauty contest in the afternoon, and will be the central figure at the coronation ceremony in the evening, when she will be decorAted with a crown of roses as Queen of Canterbury Beauty.
