STUDENTS’ CONCERT IN CHORAL HALL TO-NIGHT.

Some of the best work of the greit composers, ancient and modern, will be presented at the concert to be given At the Choral Hall this evening. Included amongst the singers is Miss Gladys Brooks, soprano, who Shows promise of a successful career. Another young singer who is beginning to take her place on the concert platform is Miss Vivienne Ralph, contralto. who will shortly sing in Wanganui at the Choral Society’s concert. Miss Nellie Blllolifr, who is Miss King’s scholarship holder for this year, will Also sing and is another student who shows promise tor the future. The others will be Miss Dorothy Salter, a successful candidate in the ‘recent examinations, and Missels MariPrie Cunningham, M?*rie .Brooks and Gwertda Tompkins. Among the principal c*|lo soloists dre: Mr Hamilton Dickson, who is already well known as a rising young ipusicign and should further enhance his reputation, by, n 1 s performance at this concert; MifcßjNdllie Ellwood, the gifted sister of George Ell - wood (the distinguished New Zealand ’cellist); Miss Valinai Livingstone, a young ’cellifct who shows exceptional promise and who performs important works from the ’cello repertoire. Miss Pearl Stringer and Miss Marjorie Chapman are two other very promising students. Miss Thelma Cusack, who will also appear, is a clever young violinist who shows very marked ability. A welcome addition to the musical activities of the city is Mr Harold Beck’s formation of a students’ orchestra, which is to present compositions performed for the first time here. Only a limited number of seats are available. Patrons are advised to book their seats at The Bristol to save disappointment.
