ASHBURTON SWIMMING CENTRE HOLDS MEETING.

The* Ashburton Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association held its annual meeting last evening. Mr E. \Y. Coker presided. The following delegates were present:—Messrs M. Milsom (Ashburton), A. Thomson (WilJowby), A. M’Callum (Ruapuna), D. M'Millan and a. Gudsell (Tinwald), A. Stills and A. Gourley (Ashburton East). The* annual report stated that 131 certificates had been issued during the year by the N.Z.A.S.A. The schools’ championship had been won by Miss Vera Smith in the girls’ class, vvth Miss Jean Glover as runner-up, and N. Milsom in the boys’ class, with H. Milsom as run-ner-up. No other centre championship had been held during the season, which on the whole had been a successful one. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr J. Cow; four vice-presidents; secretary, Mr A. R. Gourley; treasurer, Mr D. M’Millan; auditor, Mr W. PI. Woods; local consul, Mr A. Thomson; education officer, Mr R. H. M’Gregor; centre handieapper, Mr J. N. M’Crae; timekeepers, Messrs Milsom, M'Lauchlin, Hockings and Vincent; executive, Messrs Thomson, Milsom and M'Lauchlin: delegate to the New Zealand Council, Mr R. C. Wheeley. The matter of sending representatives to the New Zealand championship meetings in Auckland in January was referred to the committee. It was decided that the 25yds girls’ championship and the 50yds boys’ championship be held in conjunction with the Ashburton Swimming Club's coming evening carnival.
