MISS THELMA McMILLAN, of Dunedin, has been awarded the title of “ Miss New Zealand,” and Miss Isobel Wilson, of Wellington, has been awarded second prize in the “ Star’s ” Dominion-wide Beauty Contest. When the announcement was made in His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday evening, a packed house clapped and stamped its approval, and then followed one of the most remarkable scenes of demonstrative enthusiasm ever witnessed here. Hundreds of people rose in their seats. Men threw their hats in the air and shrieked their approval, while the other finalists grouped around Miss McMillan and showered kisses upon her. For Miss Isobel Wilson, Miss Pycroft, and for all the other finalists there were also repeated outbursls of cheering.
