Abandon Collars For Open Necks Is Expert’s Advice To Men.
PROFESSOR PRAISES MODERN GIRL’S HYGIENIC CLOTHING, AND URGES PRINCE TO SET FASHION FOR MALES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright-—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn. (Received November 19, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, November 18. “ Blouses are all nonsense. A girl never caught a complaint through wearing low-necked clothing,” said Professor Leonard Hill, lecturing at the Institute of Hygiene. “ Low necks harden and help her to resist disease. Short skirts and silk stockings are also beneficial, especially artificial silk, which will allow ultra violet rays to penetrate to the skin, resulting in sun-burning. “Women’s success in swimming the Channel is partly attributable to their training to endure cold more than men, who are over-coddled. Men should discard collars and adopt open necks and knickerbockers or running shorts. The Prince of Wales could start the fashion by ap, aring in an open-necked shirt.”
