P.P.A. DEMANDS ROYAL COMMISSION ON BAUME RELEASE INCIDENT.
(Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, November 18. At a meeting of the Dominion Executive of the Protestant Political Association to-night the following resolutions were carried unanimously:—“That the Rev Howard Elliott, as Dominion secretary, in preferring charges against the administration of justice in connection with the Baume, Mackay and Baker cases has acted with the full knowledge and approval of this executive and that the demand made by him for a Royal Commission to investigate the whole of the charges is endorsed as being in the interest of impartial administration of the law. “ That the Dominion Executive alfirms the statement made that the Prime Minister’s statement to a deputation of the Dominion Executive oi the Protestant Political Association in February last was that Mr Dallard s temporary appointment as ControllerGeneral of Prisons was merely lor the purpose of investigating accounts, and would not be made permanent, therefore this executive strongly protests against the appointment being made permanent, and will regard any confirmation of the appointment as a breach of faith on the part of the Lovernment."
