FACTION FIGHT IN QUEENSLAND OVER LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

(Special to the “Star.”) BRISBANE, November 11. “The Queensland Rugby League has had its day,” said the annual report of the Toowoomba Rugby League, adopted at the. annual meeting of the Toowoomba League last night. The report stated that the first hint of trouble occurred when the Toowoomba nominee for the Queensland selection committee was defeated by a block vote. It was felt that affiliation with such a body was an inSult to the intelligence of Toowoomba people. The attempted overthrow of the Brisbane Rugby League by the Queen sland League made it imperative that some action be taken. At Brisbane it was decided to form a new league, and an appeal was being made to the more important centres to secure support. The chairman, Mr E. W. Cleary, said the Queensland League had stated that £3OOO held as a balance would be used, if necessary, in fighting. If it developed into a band of mercenary players touring the State, and asking for support those players would get short shrift. The constitution of the new governing body was being prepared. The secretary, Mr R. Meibusch, remarked that if it could be proved to the New South Wales League that the new movement represented the football feeling in Queensland it would be recognised.
