“Star’s ” Big £loo Christmas Competition Is Launched.

LAST SATURDAY’S “ STAR ” SHOULD BE KEPT AND STUDIED BY ALL BOYS AND GIRLS. WIRELESS RECEIVING SET IS REWARD OF WINNER. The biggest Christmas competition ever offered to the children of New Zealand was launched in Saturdav’s “ Star,” and will be continued in Wednesday and Saturday issues. Entries will be accepted from any part of New Zealand. South Island entries should be sent to “The Star,” Christchurch; North Island entries should go to “ The Auckland Star ” and Wellington “ Evening Post,” which are co-operating with the Christchurch “ Star ” in this great Competition. The first prize will be two wireless sets, complete with all equipment and accessories, and valued at £23, and, besides that, there are gold wristlet watches, cameras, tennis racquets, and cricket bats, and dozens of other good prizes. There is no entrance fee other than coupons, which may be cut from “ The Star.” The conditions are not severe, and the Competition will be well within the capacity o£ the average child. Care and a little ingenuity will be required, but no more. To avoid disappointment every household in which there are children should place itself at once on the subscription list of “ The Star.” Orders for the paper should be sent to the Publisher, “The Star.” Christchurch; or Telephone 3875. One of the conditions is that no boy or girl directly or indirectly connected with the staff of either “ The Star,” Christchurch, the “ Evening Post,” Wellington, or “ The Auckland Star ” will be allowed to compete. Last Saturday's “ Star ” (November 6) has the first instalment and full particulars of the Competition, which is open to every hoy and girl up to the age of eighteen. The wireless set for the South Island, a five-valve Gilfillan radio set, has been donated by Broadcast Reception Ltd. Jones and Sons, jewellers, have also donated a solid gold watch for boy or girl, for the best Canterbury solution of the Competition.
