Last evening the Canterbury Rowing Club rowed the first heat of its President’s Fours Race, when F. H. Brown <etr.>, O. E. Owen (8). B. Johnson (2), H. L. Stephenson {how) beat G- H. Arnold (®tr.), H. B. Godfrey (»), ai. O’Brien (2), H. S. James (bow). Both craws raced neck and neefc until Retreat Road hridg* was reached, when Brdwft pulled away. A* CowHehawa corner he had a clear length’s lead, and went on to win comfortably by over two lengthsTwo more heats will be rowed this evening and the final will take place on i Friday.
